The World First Guide to the Best Websites for Winter Sports.

In the last few weeks Europe has seen some impressive snowfall. It’s meant a few resorts have been able to open early and makes a marked change from recent years when some have had to delay their seasons because of a lack of snow. But what about your favourite resort? What are the conditions like there? And where is the best place to get your kit or where is the best off-piste skiing to be found? All the answers are here, and more, in our World First Guide the Best Websites for Winter Sports Websites. Have a browse and get excited (in the snowboard world they’d call it ‘stoked’) for another great ski season….

And don’t forget your Winter Sports travel insurance. We cover it all, from your rental gear to skiing off-piste and slope closure, and we can cover your medical conditions too…

InTheSnow.com

Packed with the latest news, resort guides and gear reviews – make sure you check out Salt the Grease from Duncan Adams – InTheSnow is guaranteed to have you reaching for your kit. Also, if you are looking for a quick break, take a look at their list of 10 of the closest ski resorts to the UK.

The Fall Line – Skiing Magazine

The Fall Line is celebrating its 25th Anniversary this year and, as usual, it’s packed with everything a skier could want, from their gear guide to an interesting article where UK industry experts reveal their favourite ski spots.

Powder – The Skiers Magazine

Fresh powder is the thing all skiers love more than anything. So if you need inspiration to find it this season, have a look at the videos in this fantastic online ski mag. Our favourite by far was “It’s called backcountry Skiing” part 1 and Part 2, both of which are guaranteed to make you smile.

Freeskier

If you are unsure which skis to buy this season then the  Freeskier’s guide to buying and understanding skis is a must read.

Snow Magazine

This month the popular snow based mag asks the question: “is snowboarding dead?”. We are still seeing lots of people getting insurance to go on snowboard holidays so we are not  so sure. Also well worth a read is 6 Reasons why you must ski Chamonix the season.

Whitelines Snowboarding

If you are snowboarding and are still undecided about which kit will be yours this year then the Whitelines buyers’ guide is essential reading. They have reviews of over 400 snowboard products! If you want to remain supple and bendy this season check out their video Yoga for Snowboarders.

Best Websites for Winter SportsSnowboarder.com

This online magazine offers primarily US based resort reviews but has some great content for snowboarders. Take the DC Shoes video Rogue 2 Mammoth for a start… if you like to see boarding action then it’s one for you..

The Reason Mag

The Reason is a UK based snowboard magazine that you can pick up free from various snowboarding outlets around the UK. We really enjoyed reading 60 Years of Glencoe.

Onboardmag.com

Their list of 10 Things not to do on the mountain could well be useful if you are new to snowboarding or skiing… as could 10 Rad park tricks to learn,  a ‘radical’ guide to snowboarding tricks if you don’t know your chicken salad grabs from your hand-plants.

Snowboard Magazine

This is jam packed with inspiration! We loved watching Glue – A short film about Soul Boarding, which was arty and inspiring in equal measure. If the opening sequence doesn’t have you packing for your favourite resort then nothing will. Great soundtrack too.

Method Mag

Check out the trailer for Horizon Lines, a snowboarding and surfing adventure! What more could you possibly want from a video ? We love this quote from the website “The world is our inspiration. We travel to see what’s beyond the horizon line.”

The World First Guide to the Best Websites for Winter Sports.Backcountry Magazine

If you are planning on getting off piste this season then Back Country Magazine’s mountain skills section is worth taking the time to read and digest. Take a look at Hydrate or Die or How to really read the avalanche forecast and learn skills that could save your bacon.

Off Piste Magazine

More avalanche safety from avalanche beacon reviews, which are invaluable. However we loved finding a clip from 2015, an advert from Audi featuring Candide Thovex having fun on skis even when there isn’t a single flake of snow. It’s the best thing we have seen in a long time: Candide Thovex Edit

Outside Online

We love Outside Online. There is always something great to read here, whether it’s a gear review or the crazy stories  but as we are talking snow, our essential reading is Which ski resorts give you the most for your money and what to expect on Everest this season.
